A handheld device that helps children tackle feelings of loneliness.
Overall six children were involved in the Co-Creation process. I developed dedicated tools for us to communicate on a creative and playful level. The Picture-game revealed that all of them feel lonely on their way to school. What makes them feel less lonely is when they are holding someone else hand.
I presented the children with four different material probes to let them share their preferences and reasoning with me about what kind of material makes them feel safe and less lonely.
The final prototype includes a silicone pad that mimics the soft touch of a human hand including a warm touch and wrinkles when being touched.
